Insights 2026: The LMU Munich School of Management in Research, Teaching, and Practice
The new issue of the faculty magazine Insights 2026 has been published. Spanning more than 80 pages, it offers a look at the developments and activities of the LMU Munich School of Management in research and teaching, international exchange, within the faculty, and at the interface with practice.
Artificial Intelligence as a Common Thread
Artificial intelligence currently touches the faculty in nearly every area. It is changing not only how we work, but also how we conduct research and teach. The articles in this issue examine how generative AI is changing online reviews, what opportunities it opens up for research, and what significance it may have for democracy. They also address the use of AI in vocational education and training, as well as its trial as a learning companion for more personalized teaching.
Research: As Diverse as the Questions of Our Time
Topics range from new forms of work design and international impulses for marketing research to open science and healthy leadership, and even global catastrophic risks. Events such as the Munich Summer Institute 2026 create space for academic exchange. In doing so, the focus deliberately extends beyond disciplinary and geographic boundaries, for example in activities that take the faculty from Munich all the way to Kampala.
Teaching: Academically Grounded and Practice-Oriented
In teaching, the faculty combines academic rigor with practical relevance, international exchange, and social responsibility. Bachelor's and master's programs, project courses, and the Master Honors Program offer students numerous opportunities to apply their knowledge to concrete challenges. The magazine presents examples, such as the "International Triple Degree" master's program or a project in which master's students advise the UN World Food Programme. The fact that the quality of the programs is also recognized outside the faculty is demonstrated not least by their very good placements in various rankings.
International and in Practice
Numerous collaborations with partner universities strengthen exchange in research and teaching, and since this year, this includes the Università di Trento. Students and researchers report from South Korea, Ireland, Australia, and Sweden. Contributions from practice, including the exchange with alumni, the AI Co-Lab, and the involvement of faculty members in innovation and technology policy committees, show how academic expertise can provide impulses for business, politics, and society.
The People Behind the Faculty
The faculty is shaped above all by its researchers and teachers, staff, students, alumni, international guests, and partners. Impressions from graduation ceremonies, anniversaries, and other news give a sense of the community at the LMU Munich School of Management. Dean Prof. Dr. Markus Glaser thanks everyone involved, in particular LMU Management Alumni e.V., which has fostered exchange and networking within the community for many years.
